"Her first album, Matches, released in March 2013, is an all-around soft and moving masterpiece that will sweep you off your feet".

Raven Shields is a musician and designer living in Toronto, ON. She has been writing and performing since she was 15 years old, and has lent her vocals to many records and continues to contribute to multiple projects around Canada. This diverse experience of many different musical communities has created a unique sonic landscape within her own project.
Her live performance ranges from a hushed serenade to a soaring ballad or a growl that holds your absolute attention and refuses to let go. Her voice has been placed somewhere between Cat Power and Stevie Nicks, however, Shields has “stopped answering the genre question” and claims that she doesn’t feel the need to align herself with just one genre, “If I listen to Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, Lauryn Hill, and Sigur Ros all in the same afternoon, and they are all considered to be in different genres, why should the music I’m inspired to make have to be placed in just one category? I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music and I feel like I am lucky to be making music in an era that allows for that fluidity between artists”.
She also works as a graphic designer and illustrator, and her portfolio includes package design, web design, and multi-media representation for other musicians and artists around the country. This work also gives Shields the unique ability to be in complete control of her artistic vision.
In May of 2016, Shields started Lover Jackets, a company that produces hand painted vintage denim and leather jackets. This new venture has further launched her into the world of design and merchandise, with unique partnerships with various musicians and other artists. She has also partnered with multiple musicians in designing their merchandise, including Kirty and Sam Cash.
She released three records with her former band, Dear Sister, and two solo EPS in 2013 under her own name. The EPs were received well, both in Canada and the UK. She is currently working on her debut full length record. She is also currently a touring member of the Canadian band Wilderness Of Manitoba.
